Yavaş’s harsh response to censorship of İmamoğlu: A counter-move is needed

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş attended the reception organized by the Head of the European Union Delegation to Türkiye Thomas Ossowski within the scope of Europe Day.
Yavaş, who made a statement to the press members here, reacted to the access ban on İmamoğlu's X account.
Slowly said:
"We are against the bans. It shows that the work done is not done in accordance with the law. We need to take action against this. We find these wrong politically. Because when this government came to power, it said that it was against the bans and that there would be no bans, but unfortunately, it is constantly being banned with an excuse. Moreover, when you look at the justification, there are justifications such as a verdict has been given, a criminal has been declared without a court decision, which is absolutely unacceptable. These are against human rights. There is no verdict, nothing. Continuous bans like this will make things even bigger. We have taken such a step to oppose this and to show solidarity with President Ekrem, and we will continue to do so."
YAVAŞ'S RESPONSE TO MINISTER TUNÇ'S WORDSIn his speech at the administrative judiciary evaluation meeting, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç drew attention to the efforts carried out to accelerate and increase the effectiveness of the judicial system and said, “Justice delayed is justice, and our nation’s greatest expectation from us is the protection of the right to a trial within a reasonable time.”
Yavaş evaluated the statements of Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç with the following words:
"He is absolutely right. Despite all the judicial packages that the same government has probably enacted since 2002, it is extremely interesting that the honorable Minister is still complaining about this. I cannot find anything to say. He is right, delayed justice is not justice! Ümit Özdağ's hearing was postponed for several months. I do not think he will be sentenced, but even if he is sentenced, he will have served too much time. What will you try? Moreover, there is no sign that an indictment will be prepared regarding President Ekrem. In that case, you will not keep him under arrest. Detention is an exception. The honorable Minister knows these as much as we all do. Therefore, if justice is to be served quickly, it would be beneficial for the indictments and trials to begin as soon as possible, but to continue without detention. Because this is currently undermining human rights. It is undermining the presumption of innocence. These have no place in law. The days spent in prison after an acquittal cannot be compensated for in any way. Therefore, if the law is to be truly implemented in this country, they must be released immediately. Justice must also be served quickly. Of course, in the meantime, I would like to remind you once again that President Ekrem wants to be tried live on TRT."
