Sudden onset of strabismus and double vision! Eye problems may be brain-related

Drooping upper eyelids, which cover the pupil by more than 2 millimeters, are called ptosis. While often considered an aesthetic issue, they can actually be caused by serious health problems. For example, in children and adults, ptosis that develops later in life can indicate conditions ranging from neuromuscular conduction disorders to brain tumors. Therefore, an ophthalmological examination, with a neurological examination if necessary, is recommended.
Narrowing of the visual field
Normally, when we look straight ahead, if we move our hands to the sides, we see our fingers moving, even if we're not looking at that area. This demonstrates the width of our visual field. Ophthalmologist Dr. Sevim Kuyumcu emphasizes that an insidious loss of vision occurs, especially in optic nerve diseases like optic neuritis and in slowly progressing brain tumors. She explains, "The patient may describe it as 'a curtain has fallen on one side of my eye,' or they may describe it as 'there's a blur where I'm looking, I can't see part of it.'"
