Living in the İncekaya village of the district and falling ill, Arıncı, a father of 10 children, was taken to Siirt Training and Research Hospital by his relatives with symptoms of a heart attack.
Arıncı, who was determined not to have had a heart attack in the tests performed, was referred to Brain and Nerve Surgery Specialist Dr. Halis Emre Çiftci due to the suspicion of a tumor in his brain during the check-up at the neurology clinic.

🔹 AA Live for instant updatesAs a result of detailed examinations, a tumor measuring 4.5 centimeters in diameter was detected in a risky area of Arıncı's brain.
Çiftci explained to Arıncı that he needed surgery and gave information about the risks of the surgical intervention.

Arıncı, who did not accept his relatives' suggestion to have surgery at another center, chose to receive treatment in his hometown, Siirt.
Arıncı was cured of his brain tumor with the surgical intervention performed by Çiftci and his team using intraoperative ultrasound (IUO) (a method that provides real-time imaging during surgery).
Patient Mehmet Refik Arıncı told an AA correspondent that he has been suffering from the disease for 27 years and has never been able to recover.
Arıncı, who stated that he was taken to the hospital, as always, with suspicions of a heart attack, said, "I've been like this for 27 years. I came here thinking I was having a heart attack, but it turned out to be a brain tumor. I gathered my family and talked to them. I wanted to get treatment in my hometown. Our doctor and his team are very good. My surgery went very well, and I'm doing very well. I had great confidence in my doctor. May God protect our state."
"My father had been experiencing these crises for 27 years"Arıncı's daughter, Gönül Çaplık, also stated that the doctor explained all the risks to her father before the surgery, saying:
We told our doctor, "We trust in God first, then in you," and handed our father over. May God bless our doctor. The surgery was a success. The entire tumor was removed. We're waiting for the pathology results. We'll take action accordingly after the results are available. My father had been experiencing these crises for 27 years, and we were constantly bringing him in for heart problems. Finally, I took him to a neurologist, and he received this diagnosis. My father had been to various hospitals in neighboring provinces and Istanbul, but nothing came back. We always suspected a heart problem. So, those crises were originating from the brain. Thankfully, he recovered with a successful surgery.
"It was a tumor in a risky area of the brain."Op. Dr. Halis Emre Çiftci said that they detected a tumor in the brain of Mehmet Refik Arıncı, who applied to the hospital with suspicion of a heart attack.
"It was a tumor located near the base of the skull and in a risky area of the brain," Çiftci said, adding that they tried to make the best use of their resources to remove the tumor located deep in the brain.
Çiftci noted the following:
"Thanks to the ultrasound we obtained from the emergency room, we were able to locate the mass during surgery, enter from the safest location, and remove the entire tumor. This is the first time we've performed brain surgery using intraoperative ultrasound technology. This technology increases the success rate in brain surgery. Our patient trusted us. We monitored our patient in the intensive care unit for one day after surgery and then in the ward. We plan to discharge our patient in the coming days."
Çiftci stated that these types of surgeries are generally performed in large centers and that they are trying to increase the hospital's facilities to reduce the need to refer patients to other provinces.
