Foods that increase the risk of premature death have been revealed: Proven on 180,000 people

The study used health data from more than 180,000 adults in the UK between 2006 and 2010. The average age of participants was 57, with 57 percent female and 43 percent male. The findings showed that heavy consumption of additives such as sweeteners, flavor enhancers, colors, different types of sugar, and flavorings significantly increased the risk of premature death.
SOME ITEMS ARE OBSERVED AS LOW RISKAnother notable finding in the study was that some gelling agents, such as gelatin, may have a risk-reducing effect. However, no direct association was found between processed fats, fiber, or protein sources and premature death.
ITS SHARE IN DAILY NUTRITION IS APPROACHING 20 PERCENTUltra-processed foods accounted for approximately 20 percent of the daily calorie intake of the study participants. These products, which cannot be prepared at home and contain numerous additives, are considered artificially processed foods. Over the 11-year follow-up period, more than 10,000 participants died. According to the data, the risk of death significantly increased when these foods exceeded 18 percent of daily intake.
WHAT ARE ULTRA PROCESSED FOODS?Ultra-processed foods are defined as products that contain high amounts of sugar, salt, and fat, while being low in protein and fiber. They are often enhanced with additives like preservatives, sweeteners, and colorings to extend shelf life. Frozen ready-made meals, processed meats (sausages, salami), sodas, chips, cookies, and ketchup are among the most common examples.
The scientists noted that consumption habits for these products were self-reported, which could limit the study. However, they added that the findings largely aligned with previous studies.
