Blood of victims poured into sewage system renders two flats unusable

On the first day of Eid al-Adha in Gaziosmanpaşa, Istanbul, the blood mixed into the sewage system after an illegal animal was slaughtered, and due to clogged drain pipes, two flats were filled in. İSKİ teams were dispatched to the address after the homeowners noticed the situation and reported it.

"WE THREW OUR STUFF"

Hasan Kurban, a resident of the flat who stated that he was newly married and his wife was pregnant, described the shock they experienced with the following words:

"I woke up in the morning and when I looked in the toilet there was blood everywhere. Blood came out of the toilet like a sewer. We were going to go to my mother's but we couldn't. We have been trying to clean the blood since 9:00 in the morning. We threw away all our belongings."

"I THOUGHT, 'DID THEY KILL SOMEONE?'"

Burhan Karaman, who lives in the other flat, said the damage was extensive: "I have a loss of at least 150 thousand lira. I woke up in the morning and the house was like a pool of blood. I thought, 'Did they kill someone?' The carpets, towels, beds are all gone."
