A citizen was poisoned, and the family doctor was charged!

Dr. Ali Fuat Dalkanat, AHESEN Kahramanmaraş-Elbistan Representative, said, "The hospital admission rates of family physicians and family health workers directly impact the payments they receive. While this situation is unacceptable even under normal circumstances, its acceptance during public health crises beyond physicians' control creates an incomprehensible situation."
With the new regulation, family medicine workers' incomes are determined based on registered individuals' hospital visits. Dr. Ali Fuat Dalkanat expressed the outrage of all family medicine workers by saying, "Hundreds of people visited hospitals after the poisoning at the thermal power plant. These visits, which were made with common complaints such as diarrhea and vomiting, directly impacted the payment system of family medicine workers in the region. Due to the regulation, the increase in hospital visits led to a cut in family medicine payments for that period. Our labor is being cut when we have no responsibility. Is this fair?"
Kandemir made the following assessments.
"Citizens' hospital visits, especially during such an urgent health crisis, have nothing to do with the family physician system. However, due to regulations, physicians are still losing their payments. Those who fail to fulfill their duties regarding environmental health, food safety, and crisis management are the ones truly responsible."
"PUNISHING FAMILY DOCTORS IN MOMENTS OF SOCIAL CRISIS IS UNACCEPTABLE"Kandemir stated, “The new Family Medicine Regulation implemented by the Ministry of Health, with its structure devoid of scientific approach and sense of justice, has fallen far short of being applicable. Punishing family medicine professionals, even in times of social crisis such as disasters, is unacceptable. Are family medicine centers expected to launch promotions for patients who want to go to the hospital? Should we give gifts through raffles to patients who regularly visit family medicine centers? Such an irrational practice cannot be implemented in a field as unspeakable as healthcare.”
