The 'Öcalan' slogan in the Turkish Grand National Assembly was brought to court.

The chanting of the slogan "Long live leader Apo" by the DEM Party group in the Turkish Grand National Assembly sparked controversy. Following outrage, the incident was brought to court. The Turkish Veterans and Martyrs' Families Foundation filed a criminal complaint against the DEM Party group.
Speaking in front of the Ankara Courthouse before the criminal complaint was filed, TÜGŞAV President Lokman Aylar stated that, as families of martyrs and veterans, they support the process of a Terror-Free Turkey to protect national unity and brotherhood. Everyone is contributing to the ideal of a Terror-Free Turkey, and that these efforts must not be squandered by reckless steps. Expressing their deep sorrow over the incident, Aylar said, "It is unacceptable on any democratic ground for DEM Party members to turn the parliamentary rostrum and pews into terrorist propaganda. This is not freedom of expression; it is stabbing the heart of the national will by singing the praises of a terrorist organization that has targeted the lives of thousands of our nation's children."
