MINISTER IŞIKHAN'S STATEMENT ON INTERIM INCREASE IN MINIMUM WAGE

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan said in a statement, “We have to protect the purchasing power of our citizens. We expect a decrease in inflation, but if there is a setback, an interim increase may be on the agenda in July.” If there is no interim increase in the minimum wage, the next increase will be in 2026. As of April 2025, annual inflation fell to 37.86%. Economic experts predict that the increase in the minimum wage will be in the first month of 2026.

WILL THERE BE AN INTERIM INCREASE IN THE MINIMUM WAGE?

The minimum wage was determined as 22,104.67 TL net and 26,005.50 TL gross as of January 1, 2025, with a 30 percent increase. This figure provided a significant increase compared to the net minimum wage of 17,002 TL in 2024. Whether or not the minimum wage will be increased interim in July 2025 may change depending on inflation data and economic conditions. The minimum wage was increased by 30 percent as we entered 2025. As of January 1, 2025, the net minimum wage was 22,104.67 TL, while the gross amount was determined as 26,005.50 TL. This increase represents a significant increase compared to the net minimum wage of 17,002 TL implemented in 2024. Whether or not an additional increase will be made in July 2025 will become clear depending on the inflation rates and economic indicators in the first half of the year.

INFLATION HAS BEEN DECREASING FOR 11 MONTHS

Civil servant and pension salaries are determined each year according to inflation. Inflation is also indirectly used as a basis when determining the minimum wage. President Erdoğan stated in his latest statement that annual inflation has been falling uninterruptedly for 11 months.
