Gürsel Tekin gave up on going to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters today.

Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as trustee by the court after CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik and his administration were dismissed, had stated, “I will be at the provincial building at 12:00 on Monday and I will sit in that seat.”

While CHP deputies, PM members, youth and women's branches, and party members gathered in front of the provincial building since yesterday evening and took precautions to prevent the trustee from entering the building, the Istanbul Police Department also took strict precautions around the building with a large number of riot police, barriers blocking the entrances, and TOMA vehicles.

The number of party members who stayed around the provincial building all night increased even more this morning. Some people stepped in to resolve the issue.

He met with Minister Yerlikaya

It was learned that Gürsel Tekin, who had stated days ago that he would go to the provincial building at 12:00 today, had made some contacts to prevent a confrontation between party members and the police.

According to a report by Saygı Öztürk from Sözcü newspaper, he spoke by phone with Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya and Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, requesting that the police leave the area in front of and around the building, and noted that he would not go to the provincial building at the specified time.

Meanwhile, contacts were made with party officials. It was learned that postponing the departure to another day was being discussed.

Will announce at press conference

Gürsel Tekin is expected to hold a press conference regarding the developments. He is expected to emphasize that he has adopted a "problem-solving, not problem-creating" approach throughout the process, stating that he will find solutions to current developments through alternative means rather than creating new crises.
