From Cemal Enginyurt to Gürsel Tekin: Can you fit it into your conscience?

Following the annulment of the CHP's Istanbul Provincial Congress by the 45th Civil Court, Özgür Çelik and his management team were dismissed, and a five-person trustee board consisting of Gürsel Tekin, Zeki Şen, Hasan Babacan, Müjdat Gürbüz, and Erkan Narsap was appointed in their place. Hasan Babacan and Müjdat Gürbüz, who were also on the board, refused to become trustees.

Following Tekin's statement that he would come to the provincial headquarters on Monday, the CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters was surrounded by police.

CHP Istanbul Deputy Cemal Enginyurt, Şanlıurfa Deputy Mahmut Tanal, and Deputy Group Chair Ali Mahir Başarır met with party members waiting outside the CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters, which was under police blockade. Addressing Gürsel Tekin, who had been appointed as a trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Administration, Enginyurt said, "Since you claim to be a long-time leftist, a long-time revolutionary, and a long-time CHP supporter, how could you have consented to young people being pepper-sprayed and Murat Çalık being fed formula? How could you send the palace-appointed police here tonight? How can you even conscience accept this? If you have even a shred of humanity, social democracy, or leftism, you must turn back from this wrong path tomorrow."

Enginyurt, in his statement to the party members, said:

"A second coup attempt is being attempted tonight. Let's remain calm, let's be careful. Some people want us to act out. They're all waiting for us to do something, and they've started saying, 'They disobeyed court orders and took to the streets.' This isn't a court decision. This is a palace-ordered decision. We don't accept this decision as a court decision, but we won't fall for the palace's tricks. We will resist, we will fight, and we will be the winners. Ekrem İmamoğlu and the prisoners are all watching us in prison right now, supporting our resistance."

"TURN THE WRONG WAY"

I have a word for Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as trustee: if you claim to be a long-time leftist, a long-time revolutionary, a long-time CHP supporter, how could you have the heart to allow young people to be pepper-sprayed and Murat Çalık to be fed formula? How could you send the police here tonight, appointed by the palace? How can you even conscience accept this? If you have even an iota of humanity, social democracy, or leftism, you must turn back from this wrong path tomorrow. We will not give up the struggle. Whether his name is Gürsel Tekin or anyone else, we made a promise and we will win. We made a promise to those in prison, to our Chairman Özgür Özel. There is no salvation alone; it's either all together or none of us.
