Child dies after falling into pond on birthday

The incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. in a pond at Aşıkpaşa Nature Park in the Aşıkpaşa neighborhood of Kırşehir's city center. Omar Abdulletif Talib, an Iraqi national whose birthday was just around the corner, came to the pond after being overwhelmed by the hot weather.

Talib disappeared shortly after. Police, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency), and medical teams were dispatched to the scene after being alerted by his friends who had emerged from the water. Police took security measures and AFAD teams began searching. When AFAD's search yielded no results, assistance was requested from the Frogmen in the Ankara Provincial Police Department's Underwater Group.

Found at a depth of 8 meters

Police divers recovered Talib's lifeless body at a depth of 8 meters after approximately one and a half hours of work. The young man's body was pulled from the water and taken to Kırşehir Training and Research Hospital for an autopsy. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
