After stealing his phone, he poured gasoline on it and set it on fire because he complained about it

In the incident that took place in Karayolları Neighborhood, Ahmet Sanduvaç, who is hearing and speech impaired, went to the police station to complain about Ömer Açıkça, who had stolen his phone, at around 23:30 on June 5th. Learning that a complaint had been made, Açıkça blocked Ahmet Sanduvaç’s path at the exit of the metro station on June 9th and threatened him by saying, “Why are you complaining about me? You will withdraw your complaint.” The suspect Açıkça then took Ahmet Sanduvaç to an empty lot, saying, “I will give you back your phone.” Here, Ömer Açıkça poured gasoline on Sanduvaç, set him on fire and fled. Ahmet Sanduvaç, whose body was mostly burned, returned home half-naked. Taken to Bağcılar Education and Research Hospital by his family, Ahmet Sanduvaç received treatment in the hospital for approximately 1 month.

'HIS ARMS MAY BE DISABLED'

It was learned that Ahmet Sanduvaç, whose treatment continues at home, may lose the use of both arms. The family of Ahmet Sanduvaç, who worked at a restaurant before the incident, claimed that the suspect was still at large and that his family was threatening them. Ahmet Sanduvaç's older brother Mehmet Sanduvaç said, "He takes the phone from your hand on the eve of Eid and robs you. They also meet on the 4th day of Eid. He asked my brother, 'Why did you complain about me?' He says. My brother responds with sign language, 'Give me your phone. I won't report you.' He tells my brother, 'Let me give you your phone' and takes him to an empty area. He beats my brother up a bit, pours gasoline on him and burns him. As far as we know, he had also burned another person before. He had started robbing many people in the neighborhood recently. We filed a complaint. It was given to both the police station and the prosecutor's office. Hopefully, what is necessary will be done. The suspect is still out there, he is free. He has a young uncle. After the incident, while we were all in the hospital, he came and threatened my aunt, my wife and all my sisters, saying, 'Take your hands and feet off this. We will burn you and your entire house down.' My brother's only income was his hands. Now we have a bit of a problem with his hands. While I was in the hospital, he said to me, 'I'm going to buy myself a house. I hope I can buy it. Can I buy it now?' "He was saying, 'There is a possibility that his arms will be disabled. He was having very serious hallucinations at night. I know because I stayed with him. He was protecting his family in his dreams. He was having hallucinations like, 'He's coming, he's coming. Take the children. Take my sisters. He's coming, he's going to burn, he's going to shoot.' Doctors are witnesses to this. We want justice to be served," he said.

On the other hand, the moments when Ahmet came home half-naked and in pain after being burned and when Açıkça's uncle, who was the subject of the complaint, came to the front of the house and threatened the Sanduvaç family were recorded by another building's security camera.
