A new era in electricity! If there is an outage, it will be deducted from your bill.

To protect consumer rights resulting from electricity outages, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) has decided to deduct compensation for annual outages, extended outages, and commercial quality deficiencies directly from consumers' bills. In a written statement, EPDK announced that the regulation amending the Quality Regulation on Distribution and Retail Sales Activities in the Electricity Market has been approved and submitted to the Presidency for publication in the Official Gazette. When the new system goes into effect, the total compensation owed by electricity distribution and supply companies, totaling 1.61 billion Turkish Lira, will be reflected in consumers' bills without requiring any application. Consumers will be able to access details on their bills, including the type of compensation, the total amount, the amount offset on the invoice, and the amount to be offset in subsequent months, if any.
EMRA President Mustafa Yılmaz, whose comments were included in the statement, stated that the decision is a critical step for consumer protection and improving service quality. He said, "As EMRA, we will not allow our citizens' rights to be violated. We will closely monitor how our decision is implemented by the relevant companies and whether payments are made on time and in full. This decision by our institution will also contribute significantly to improving the service quality of the sector."
According to the practice, outages exceeding 10 hours in urban distribution areas, 11 hours in sub-urban distribution areas, and 12 hours in rural distribution areas entitle you to long-term outage compensation. The compensation figures for 2025 are as follows: "Residential subscribers under 160 kilovolt amperes (kVA): 554 lira, other subscribers under 160 kVA: 1107 lira, users between 160-630 kVA: 3 thousand 323 lira, users over 630 kVA: 6 thousand 647 lira."
