Celebrities react to Yücel Erten's detention

As part of the investigation conducted by the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and within the scope of the operation against İZBETON and some cooperatives, theater actor Yücel Erten, General Art Director of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, was also detained.

Known to have had chronic health problems for a long time and detained in an operation yesterday morning , Erten's ex-wife, theater actress Nesrin Kazankaya, shared the following on her social media account: "One of Turkey's most important theater figures, my son's father Yücel Erten, was detained!! My sadness and anger are endless! Attention art-loving lawyers from İzmir!"

While Erten's detention attracted attention in the art community, many names reacted with messages they posted on social media.

CHP PM Member Baran Seyhan reacted to the situation by saying in his statement on his social media account, “ One of the most important living figures of our theater, Yücel Erten, was chosen as the victim in the ‘continuity hunt’ carried out in İzmir. There is no explanation for detaining Yücel Hoca, who is 80 years old, has serious chronic diseases and has no connection to the issue, in a raid early in the morning and keeping him in unhealthy conditions. ”

Famous actor Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan supported Erten on his social media account by sharing, "Yücel Erten's place is in the unforgettable level of our art, in the most important corner of our hearts. Thank goodness he exists and is not alone. I pray for him to return to his work as soon as possible."

Actor Reha Özcan shared the following message: "At 80 years old, Yücel Erten is a value who has been a director for all of us. He was the general manager of DT, retired from the institution, did not retire from theater, the architect of the directorships that made us fall in love with theater in our childhood with his criticisms that praised us more than they criticized us... He should be released immediately, immediately."

Screenwriter, director and theater writer Özen Yula shared the following on his social media account: “Yücel Erten is one of the greatest living masters of Turkish Theater. Famous actress Berna Laçin said, " The master director of the theater, Yücel Erten, has also been detained. No one has been able to solve this yet ."

Musician Çiğdem Erken shared the following on her X account: " It is unacceptable that Yücel Erten (age 80) was detained on a chair since 05:30 yesterday morning without even taking medication. Raise your voice for the immediate release of our master, who is an important name not only in Turkey but also in world theatre ."
