US Senator Sanders: History Will Not Forgive Our Complicity in Gaza's Nightmare

US Senator Bernie Sanders, in his speech in the Senate, made an assessment regarding the prevention of humanitarian aid reaching Gaza.
"I want to talk about something that people all over the world are thinking about, that people are shocked about, but for some strange reason, it's very little discussed in this nation's capital or in the corridors of Congress," Sanders said.
"It will be a permanent stain on the collective conscience of the world""What we are seeing now, with Israel cutting off all aid (to Gaza), is a slow and brutal process of mass starvation and death through the denial of basic needs. It is methodical, it is deliberate," Sanders said.
Sanders, who emphasized that what is happening in Gaza is a "man-made nightmare," said, "What is happening in Gaza today will be a permanent stain on the collective conscience of the world. History will never forget that we allowed this, and here in the United States, we made this ongoing oppression possible."
"History will not forgive our complicity in this nightmare"Sanders said the U.S. was "complicit" in causing and perpetuating the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, adding: "History will not forgive our complicity in this nightmare. It is past time to end our support for (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu's destruction of the Palestinian people."
Referring to US President Donald Trump's previous desire to "turn Gaza into the Riviera of the Middle East," Sanders demanded that "Gaza be rebuilt for the Palestinian people, not for billionaires to enjoy on the Riviera."
Humanitarian situation in GazaThe World Central Kitchen (WCK), a non-governmental organization headquartered in the United States, announced that the ingredients needed to prepare daily meals in Gaza, where Israel has been completely blockading for more than two months, have run out.
The statement noted that WCK trucks loaded with food and cooking fuel had been "on standby" at the Gaza border since the beginning of March, but that "vital food distribution could not continue" because Israel did not allow the aid to pass.
Israel has not allowed humanitarian aid to enter Gaza since the first days of March, claiming that the distribution of aid has been out of control and that some supplies have been looted.
