US President Trump announced the implementation of bilateral tariffs

Trump made a statement about the tariffs in a post on his Truth Social account.
Noting that it was past midnight, Trump announced that the tariffs, which were based on reciprocity and whose rates varied, had come into effect.
Arguing that the countries affected by these tariffs have been "taking advantage of the United States" for many years, Trump said, "Billions of dollars in tariffs are now flowing into the United States."
Tariffs based on reciprocityIn a statement released by the White House, it was announced that the executive order signed by Trump had changed the customs duty rates based on reciprocity for some countries in order to further reduce the US’s increasing annual goods trade deficits.
The statement emphasized that since Trump’s April 2 statement regarding tariffs based on reciprocity, some countries have agreed to, or are on the verge of agreeing to, meaningful trade and security agreements with the United States . It was also reported that some countries have made some offers to the United States through negotiations, while others have not entered into negotiations at all.
The statement noted that Trump had decided that it was necessary and appropriate to change tariff rates based on reciprocity for some countries.
The statement stated that countries included in the executive order would be subject to customs duties at the specified rates, while countries not included on the list would be subject to a 10% tariff. Trump also signed an executive order increasing the tariff rate on Canada from 25% to 35%.
In this context, it was planned to impose a 25 percent tariff on India, 19 percent on Indonesia, 35 percent on Iraq, 15 percent on Israel, 19 percent on Malaysia, 15 percent on Norway, 39 percent on Switzerland, 41 percent on Syria, 20 percent on Taiwan and 20 percent on Vietnam.
A 15 percent customs duty was expected to be applied to Türkiye.
