Ural Aküzüm: Women's football needs to be spread to the grassroots in Türkiye

The Women's Football Tournament, organized among high schools in Istanbul under the coordination of the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education in line with the "Gear Up" project in which the Turkish Football Federation is a partner within the scope of the European Union Erasmus Projects, was held at the facilities of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University with the support of the İlim Yayma Foundation.

URAL AKÜZÜM PRESENTED THE U16 ISTANBUL HIGH SCHOOL WOMEN'S FOOTBALL CUP

Ural Aküzüm presented the championship cup to Küçükçekmece TOKİ Atakent Sports High School team, which won the championship by winning 6-5 against Kadıköy Sports High School as a result of the penalty kicks in the final where the regular time ended 0-0.

Speaking at the award ceremony, TFF Board Member Ural Aküzüm emphasized that such tournaments are of great importance in spreading women's football to the grassroots in Türkiye and said, "We are in a very rapid breakthrough in women's football. The competitions in our women's leagues are breathtaking. The champion team in the Turkcell Women's Football Super League has been determined in the last week for the last 2 years. The competitions are really at a very high level. We attach great importance to the infrastructure in order to develop Turkish women's football and to be among the countries that have a say in the world. This tournament held among high schools is of great importance in encouraging our girls. Although there is a winner and a loser here today, the real winner is actually Turkish women's football... I see our children crying because they lost. The more elite athletes we can create from our children here, the more we will all be the ones smiling as a result. For this reason, I congratulate all of our children who struggle, sweat and strive for development here for their valuable efforts. I would also like to thank everyone who contributed to the realization of this valuable tournament."
