Türkiye has experienced a major transformation in education

According to the data of the Ministry of National Education, the number of schools, which was 43,696 in the 2002-2003 academic year, increased to 75,467 in the 2023-2024 period. During the same period, the number of classrooms was increased from 367,000 to 743,000. While the net school enrollment rate in primary education was 90.98 percent in 2002, this rate reached 95.65 percent in the 2023-2024 period. In secondary education, the net school enrollment rate, which was 50.57 percent in 2002, increased to 87.97 percent in 2023-2024. The education budget, which was 10.4 billion TL in 2002, increased to 2 trillion 186 billion TL by 2025. According to OECD data, Turkey increased the share of education expenditures in the public budget above the OECD average. The increase in the education budget has proven to be the top government policy priority in this area over the last 22 years. Over the past 23 years, a total of 4.32 billion textbooks have been distributed free of charge to students. It was announced that 184 million books will be distributed free of charge in the 2025-2026 academic year.
629,277 interactive boards were installed in classrooms.As part of the digital transformation initiative, the Fatih Project has installed 629,277 interactive whiteboards in classrooms to date. Furthermore, more than 20,000 digital content pieces have been made available to students. The goal is to have 50,000 schools equipped with high-speed internet by the end of 2025. Broadband internet has been provided to 14,750 schools to date, and protocols have been signed to increase this number to 18,000.
In addition, within the scope of the Turkey Century Education Model, new-generation content for Basic and Secondary Education levels, compatible with the curriculum and prepared with the latest technology, including 1,721 teaching materials, 170 enriched books, 2,148 educational videos, 500 three-dimensional models, and 132 simulations, was made available to teachers and students via EBA.
Equal opportunities have been strengthenedReforms implemented in education were not limited to infrastructure. Years of inequitable coefficients in vocational high schools were resolved. Practices such as the freedom to wear headscarves have facilitated access to rights for students and education professionals. Policies encouraging girls' participation in education have strengthened equal opportunity across all segments of society.
