The fire zone in Bursa was captured by drone
A forest fire that broke out around 5:30 p.m. yesterday near the Ağlaşan neighborhood of the Kestel district spread, fueled by strong winds, and quickly reached the Gürsu district. The 170-household Karahıdır neighborhood, which was nearing the flames, was evacuated by AFAD teams as a precaution.

Some houses in the neighborhood were affected by the flames, and the 220-household İğdir neighborhood was also evacuated later in the day. Quarries and power lines in the area experienced occasional explosions, and as the flames, visible from all over the city, advanced toward the Osmangazi district, the 90-household Avdancık neighborhood was also evacuated.

In a statement made by the Bursa Governorship, it was stated that 1,765 citizens in three neighborhoods with 480 households were safely evacuated.
While Vakıf Bera City Park was being prepared to accommodate the evacuated citizens, the Metropolitan Municipality's mobile hospital was kept ready. The Metropolitan and Yıldırım Municipalities also met the citizens' food and water needs.
OVER 200 ANIMALS RESCUEDAnimals at the Gürsu Municipality Animal Care and Rehabilitation Center in the İğdir neighborhood, small and large livestock in the neighborhoods, and different species of peacocks, budgies, canaries, partridges, parrots, quails and pheasants in the recreation area in Gürsu were also evacuated from the fire zone by HAYTAP volunteers and district municipal teams.

The people of Bursa mobilized throughout the night to help the fire. Citizens flocked to the area with aid supplies, while concrete mixers transported water to the area. Farmers in surrounding neighborhoods also supported the firefighting efforts by filling their tractors with spray tankers. Motorcycle couriers also delivered food and drink to the fire zone throughout the night.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, who was in Bursa to inaugurate the Doğancı Tunnel, also came to the fire zone and inspected the area.

Making a statement at the coordination center established in the Regional Directorate of Forestry, Minister Uraloğlu stated that the fire spread quickly due to the very hot weather and the wind in some areas, and that the fire in Kestel and Gürsu was determined to be effective in an area of approximately 100-110 hectares.

Minister Uraloğlu said that 13 aircraft were effectively fighting the fire until dark.

While 1,800 personnel and 700 pieces of machinery from 41 institutions took part in the extinguishing efforts, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality firefighters who had previously worked in the Istanbul, Yalova, Balıkesir and Bilecik fires were also dispatched to the region as reinforcements.

With the extinguishing efforts that continued from land throughout the night, the fire's energy and spread decreased, and 1,765 people in three evacuated neighborhoods began to return to their homes.

While the intervention in the local flames continued with the support of aircraft and helicopters, the fire area was viewed from the air by drone.
