TCG İçel Meets Blue Waters

A new component of Türkiye's national defense capabilities has been added. TCG İçel (F-518), produced as part of the MİLGEM 6-12th Stacking Class Frigates Procurement Project, was launched at a ceremony held at Sefine Shipyard in Yalova.

Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency's Defense Industries Department, emphasized that the ship, which boasts a local content ratio of up to 80 percent, incorporates national solutions in critical areas such as radar, sonar, fire control systems and anti-ship missiles.

"MİLGEM is not just a ship, it is a symbol of Türkiye's self-confidence in defense," said Görgün, adding that TCG İçel will strengthen the Turkish navy in the second century of the Republic.

Built with the contribution of more than 200 institutions and companies, the frigate will increase deterrence in the "Blue Homeland" and serve as a declaration of Turkish engineering capabilities to the world.
