Memur-Sen Honorary Chairman Zübeyir Yetik passed away (Who is Zübeyir Yetik?)


Journalist, Writer, Trade Unionist Zübeyir Yetik has passed away. Yetik, who was also the Honorary Chairman of Memur -Sen, was 84 years old. In a statement made by Memur-Sen; "One of the pioneers of our trade union struggle, who assumed the duties of the General Chairman of Memur-Sen and Bem-Bir-Sen, the pioneer of an honorable journey of cause, our Honorary Chairman, our valuable elder, Writer Zübeyir Yetik, one of the respected names of the literary world, has passed away. We pray to God for mercy on the late Yetik, who won a place in hearts with his modesty and set an example with his determined stance and dedication to his cause. We convey our wishes of patience and condolences to his grieving family, relatives and the Memur-Sen community.

WHO IS ZÜBEYİR YETİK? Zübeyir Yetik was born in Siverek in 1941. He completed his primary school in Ceylanpınar, his secondary school in Siverek and his high school in Urfa. He attended Ankara Law School for a while. He graduated from Adana Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences in 1977. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration, Institute of Business Administration, Business Administration Program in 1990. His first relationship with the pen was poetry. He started writing for a local newspaper in 1958. He worked and wrote articles in various newspapers and magazines in İzmir in 1961-65 and in Ankara in 1965-66 at every level. He later started teaching in Urfa. While writing articles for local newspapers, he also contributed to the works of a group of young people in the fields of art and thought. He founded the Urfa Branch of the “Türkocağı”, the “Urfa Science and Idea Dissemination Society”, and the “Harran University Foundation Association” and served on their boards. He launched the Urfa Branch of the “Teachers’ Union” and became its chairman. After 1968, he worked in jobs such as municipality, banking and freelance accounting. In 1974, he was appointed as the General Publishing Director of the Milli Gazete and became the first page writer; in 1976, he became a “columnist” and continued this job until 1984; in the meantime, he wrote weekly articles for Yeni Devir. He worked with Ustad Necip Fazıl. Then, he established the Çığır Publications Limited Company and served as its General Manager for a while. He gave conferences in various cities during and after this period. The published works of Zübeyir Yetik, who is married and has three children, are as follows:
