Labubu 'operation': 132 toys worth 659 thousand lira seized

The Ministry of Trade seized 132 plush toys known as 'Labubu' worth approximately 659,000 lira in an operation at Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
Ministry officials followed two passengers arriving at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
After the passengers exited the green line, which means "no items subject to customs," a search was conducted and 132 plush toys were found in their luggage.
While it was stated that the toys were plush products known as Labubu, 659 thousand lira worth of smuggled goods were seized.
A truck entering Türkiye from Kapıkule Customs Gate as part of transit transport was monitored.
It was stated that instead of the declared 20 thousand smartphones, 19 thousand 919 push-button phones were found to be in the possession during the search, and the following statement was made:
"The value of these smuggled items, intended to be left in the country without declaration, was calculated at approximately 122,170,000 lira. The items in question were seized and the necessary procedures were initiated.
The judicial processes regarding the incidents are being carried out meticulously by the Istanbul Anatolian and Silopi Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices.
The Ministry of Trade continues to work to protect honest traders, prevent unfair competition, and protect the country's economy from tax losses stemming from illicit trade.
