İSKİ closed the road in Istanbul, citizens were enraged

Due to the ongoing ISKI infrastructure works in Bakırköy for about 2 weeks, a part of Bakırköy Yüce Tarla Street has been closed to traffic. The closed street traffic was directed to side streets. The heavy traffic congestion that extended to the E-5 Highway due to the work during rush hour was reflected in the aerial images. Due to the closure of Yüce Tarla Street, heavy traffic is seen in the side streets around it. Citizens living in the area, however, draw attention to the fact that the necessary precautions were not taken before the street was closed to traffic. Emphasizing that material damage occurs to parked vehicles due to drivers trying to enter narrow streets in both directions and that fights occasionally occur, citizens expect the authorities to find an urgent solution to the traffic problem.

"We listen to the sound of horns and excavators all day long"

Kerem Özkaya, a tradesman in the area who stated that there was traffic due to İSKİ's work, said, "No planning was done while the street was closed to traffic. Our work slowed down. Since drivers cannot move forward, there are fights and arguments. We listen to the sound of horns and excavators all day long. In addition, illegal parking is causing traffic congestion."

"It is a great ordeal that traffic has come to this point"

Berk Özyiğit, who stated that he entered the traffic area by mistake, said, "I saw the other day how tortured this place is. It is a great ordeal for the traffic to come to this state. Drivers are forced to enter the opposite direction. If the traffic is resolved before it reaches this state, people will not fight."

Hasan Kaya, who is a minibus driver, said, "They do not work, they work for 2 hours and then go to bed. If they worked in shifts, they could finish this place in 3 days. We have been suffering from this disgrace for about 16 days. I work from morning till night and I constantly experience this disgrace."
