Illegal immigrant operation at apartment in Edirne: 29 detained

Teams from the Anti-Smuggling Branch of the Edirne Police Department searched a four-story apartment building on Mahmutağa Dead End Street in Nişancıpaşa Neighborhood upon receiving a tip-off.

During the search, 26 illegal immigrants , including 25 Iraqis, 1 Syrian, and 1 Turk, were apprehended in the ground-floor apartment of the building. Along with the immigrants, two people, one Palestinian, were also detained on charges of organizing the incident. The two suspects, along with a total of 29 others, underwent medical checks at Edirne Sultan Murat 1st State Hospital.

An investigation has been launched regarding the incident.
