The incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. at a casting factory within the Akpınar Industrial Estate in the Yassıören neighborhood. According to reports, Erdal Ö. went to the factory where he previously worked and began arguing with his former colleague Müjdat Bozkalan .

The argument quickly escalated into a fight. Erdal Ö. pulled out a gun, shot his friend, and fled. Witnesses alerted the gendarmerie and paramedics. Paramedics administered first aid to the injured Müjdat Bozkalan at the scene and transported him to the hospital. Gendarmerie teams launched an operation to apprehend the suspect, who fled the scene.

Teams tracking the suspect apprehended Erdal Ö., along with his gun, in the chicken coop in the field where he was hiding. While the suspect's detention process was ongoing, his friend Bozkalan, who was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, died.
