An emotional farewell from Altan Öymen's grandson to his grandfather

CHP's 5th Chairman and veteran journalist and author Altan Öymen has passed away at the age of 93. Öymen's granddaughter, Defne Öymen, bid farewell to her grandfather with an emotional message shared on her social media account.

According to the news in Sözcü, Defne Öymen's message is as follows:

"My companion, my greatest love…

We sent you off to my grandmother's place today. Now you're an angel like her. You weren't just a family member to me, you were also the most precious legacy my grandmother left me.

Yours was such a love that even Türkiye spoke of this great love. I always felt how much you missed my grandmother… We miss her every day, too. But now you're with her, resting peacefully in the arms of your greatest love.

You were the precious one in our family, the apple of Türkiye's eye. You were my idol, my inspiration, the greatest love of my life. I'm doing my best to follow in your footsteps and those of my grandmother, I promise.
