6 people detained in connection with the death of Erol Eğrek: Statement from Çalık Holding

Upon a report that Erol Eğrek had fired a gun in front of Çalık Holding on Büyükdere Street in Esentepe Neighborhood at noon, police teams started working. During the work, it was determined that 49-year-old Erol Eğrek had fired his licensed gun at a flowerpot in front of the holding company three times, and that the officers later intervened and took the gun from his hand. HE WANTED TO MEET THE COMPANY OWNER It was learned that Eğrek told the teams that he was a former employee of the holding company and that he had fired at the flowerpot outside the building’s door when he was not allowed to meet with the company owner. Eğrek was taken to Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşcıoğlu City Hospital in order to obtain a report on assault as part of legal procedures. HE LOST HIS LIFE Eğrek, who was checked by a doctor and stated that he had pain in his head, neck and chest, fell ill a short time later. Despite all interventions, he could not be saved and lost his life. 6 SUSPECTS DETAINED 6 suspects were taken into custody in connection with the incident.
STATEMENT FROM ÇALIK HOLDİNG
Holding also made a statement regarding the incident.
The statement said that Eğrek worked at a factory abroad, where he was a minority shareholder, about 10 years ago.
The statement, which stated that he later left after receiving all his rights, said, "However, in the 10-year period up until now, he has made some unfounded accusations against our company to judicial and administrative authorities, claiming that he did not receive his rights."
The statement continued, "We are closely following the initiated legal process and are acting in communication with all authorized authorities. In order to ensure that the public is correctly informed, we kindly request that comments and speculations made outside of the statements of official authorities are not taken into consideration.
