'Vision' muddied the waters of the Blue Lake

NEWS CENTER
The Blue Lake, which is located in the Kuzalan Nature Park in the Dereli district of Giresun and attracts attention with its turquoise color, has lost its former appearance due to stream reclamation works, drawing public reaction.
During the regulation works carried out in the stream bed through which the soda water passes, the natural flow of the water was disrupted, causing mud and sediment to mix into the lake.
While the clear water becoming muddy and losing its natural color was met with a reaction, the Giresun Governorship made a statement on the subject yesterday. In the written statement made by the Governorship, it was stated that a statement should be made based on the news and content shared about unplanned work being carried out around the Blue Lake in recent days.
The statement received as much backlash as the state of the lake. The statement said, “The infrastructure project is part of the ‘Journey from White to Blue’ tourism vision. These two projects complement each other, while flood risks are reduced, the region is also made safer, more aesthetic and accessible with a sustainable tourism approach.” The Governor’s Office statement, which claimed that it was inevitable for the work to be done in these years, noted the following: “The stage affecting the lake’s appearance is planned to be completed in approximately 20 days. Our ultimate goal is to protect Giresun’s natural and cultural heritage and transform it into a tourism value.”
