The developer of the DeepSeek chatbot shares user information and statistics with China's military and intelligence services, Reuters reported, citing sources.
The Chinese startup is mentioned more than 150 times in procurement reports for the People's Liberation Army and other organizations linked to China's defense industrial base, according to the agency.
The agency's sources also claim that DeepSeek has access to "large volumes" of products from Nvidia, in particular, high-performance H100 chips.
The chips are under US export restrictions from 2022 over Washington's concerns that they could be used by China to boost its military capabilities or gain a foothold in the AI race.
