Anatoly Arkadyevich Chernyakov has passed away

A graduate of the Philological Faculty of Moscow State University in 1962, he was a participant in the seminar of the famous Pushkin scholar V.N. Turbin. References to the "talented Tolya Chernyakov" can be found in the correspondence of V.N. Turbin with M.M. Bakhtin, an outstanding philosopher and researcher of the theory and history of European culture.
Since 1965, Anatoly Arkadyevich's professional biography has been associated with editorial activity - first at the USSR State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, and then at the Iskusstvo publishing house. S.S. Averintsev and Yu.M. Lotman trusted him with editing their works. He was the editor of B.M. Firsov's book "Television through the Eyes of a Sociologist" (1971) and the compiler of the famous collections "Television Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" of the 1980s.
Anatoly Arkadyevich devoted more than three decades to work at the Public Opinion Foundation. In 1992-97, he headed the editorial and publishing department of FOM, and then headed the group for processing open questions. Anatoly Arkadyevich Chernyakov retired in 2010, but until his last day he collaborated with FOM, consulting the team he once raised.

85 years. A long, dignified life. We are proud to have known Anatoly Arkadyevich. We will miss his subtle mind and meticulousness, paradoxical humor and elegance of formulations, his amazing ability to solve creative problems.
