Dakota Johnson Rocks Sheer Revenge Dress After Chris Martin Breakup
Dakota Johnson Steps Out Amid Chris Martin Breakup News

Dakota Johnson is showing the world how to be single.

The Madame Web star stepped out in a jaw-dropping sheer ensemble in New York City on June 5, one day after her breakup with fiancé Chris Martin was revealed.

For the outing, Dakota stunned in a black see-through long-sleeved midi dress with matching pumps while heading out of her hotel. And while her 'fit certainly left little to the imagination, the 35-year-old made sure to keep her private bits covered by rocking a chocolate brown bodysuit underneath.

What's more, to top off her epic revenge look, she accessorized with a brown Gucci Jackie handbag, black sunglasses and gold statement hoops.

But this isn't the first time Dakota has weaved her web of effortless style since ending her engagement to Chris, 48, with whom she first sparked romance rumors in 2017 and later got privately engaged.

On the same day multiple sources confirmed her and the Coldplay frontman's split to People, the Fifty Shades of Grey alum showed off her timeless fashion sense while taking a casual stroll in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood in oversized trousers, a loose-fitting shirt and a wide-brimmed sun hat.

Notably absent from Dakota's haute couture ensemble for the June 4 outing? Her emerald engagement ring.

And while the former couple—who previously shutdown breakup speculation in 2024—has yet to publicly address their split, Chris recently gave a rare shoutout to Dakota, encouraging people to go see her new romantic comedy Materialists.

“Thank you so much everybody,” he said while closing Coldplay’s June 1 show in Stanford, Calif. “Be kind to yourself, be kind to each other. Don’t forget to see Materialists!”

As for Dakota, she's kept tight-lipped about her romance with the musician as of late. However, she has highlighted two other special relationships in her life: her friendships with her costars Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans.

"They’re both pretty funny dudes. They both really make me laugh," Dakota told Deadline in an interview published May 18. "I really make Chris laugh, which I like a lot. And Pedro and I were friends before, so just being able to hang out all day was really fun."

To look back on Dakota and Chris' love story, read on.

Let the romance rumors begin! After Dakota Johnson was spotted at a Coldplay concert, fans started to speculate that the actress could be dating Chris Martin. While the pair didn't confirm anything for months, a few additional sightings suggested these two were more than just friends.

While attending the launch of Stella McCartney's Women's Autumn 2018 and Men's Autumn/Winter 2018 Collections at SIR Studios, the pair was spotted holding hands, giving fans further confirmation they were dating.

First comes love, then comes ma—ching tattoos? The Fifty Shades actress and the Coldplay singer appeared to show off infinity tattoos.

In an interview with Tatler, Dakota confirmed she was dating Chris with a simple message. "I'm not going to talk about it," she told the publication. "But I am very happy."

After Chris supported Dakota at her star-studded 30th birthday party in October, the actress returned the favor when it was time for her boyfriend to perform on Saturday Night Live. The pair celebrated the special show by attending the official after-party together.

The Fifty Shades of Grey alum donned her director's hat for Coldplay's "Cry, Cry, Cry" music video. The video's story is about a couple working through life's obstacles side-by-side and holding each other when they cry.

A source confirmed to E! News that the High Note actress and Coldplay frontman nestled into a modern Cape Cod-styled home in Malibu, Calif. for a price tag of $12.5 million.

During summer break, the couple jetted off to Palma De Mallorca, Spain, where they enjoyed a boat ride and some sightseeing in the city.

Before beginning to play Coldplay's latest single, "My Universe," which is a collaboration with the group BTS, Chris pointed to Dakota in the balcony and delivered a special message. "This is about my universe, and she's here," he told the crowd.

We want something just like this duo's outing to grab coffee in Malibu.
