Portuguese tennis player Nuno Borges, the sixth seed, advanced to the third round of the Athens tournament on Tuesday, after coming back from behind to beat American Eliot Spizzirri.
The player from Maia, the number one Portuguese player and 46th in the world ranking, overcame Spizzirri, currently 96th in the hierarchy, in three sets, losing the first 7-5, but proving superior in the following two sets, in which he triumphed 6-3 and 6-4, in a match lasting a total of two hours and five minutes.
In the next round, the quarterfinals, Nuno Borges, who is overcoming his opening defeats in the Vienna and Paris tournaments, will face Serbian Novak Djokovic, the top seed and currently ranked fifth in the world.
Francisco Cabral is also present at the Athens tournament, in the doubles event, where he forms a team with Austrian Lucas Miedler, the second seeded pair in the tournament, who will face Greek wildcards Dimitris and Stefanos Sakellaridis in the first round on Wednesday.
