University hospitals will hold a surgeries and care campaign this Saturday

University hospitals across the country are holding a joint service this Saturday, the 5th. In total, 45 units will offer services with the aim of reducing waiting times in the Unified Health System network. 7,800 services are expected, including 1,000 surgeries.

The so-called “E Day” is organized by the Ministries of Health and Education. In addition to the surgeries, 1,200 consultations and 5,600 exams are planned in different specialties, such as oncology, cardiology, orthopedics, ophthalmology and women's health.

“We have already had a campaign for a specific procedure or type of exam. This will be the most diverse ever carried out nationally in the history of the SUS,” said the Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha .

People who are already undergoing treatment at university hospitals will be treated. Priority criteria will be observed. People referred by state and municipal regulatory centers will also be treated.

The government reinforces that the initiative is part of the Agora Tem Especialistas program, launched in May to reduce waiting times in the SUS.
