*) The INSS scandal seems to be getting scarier and scarier. With each new discovery, with each new number, everything leads us to believe that the size of the scam that robbed retirees is truly impressive.
If it is true that cases of irregular discounts have been happening for a long time, it also seems clear that from 2023 onwards the business has reached a kind of industrial scale.
To give you an idea: figures from the CGU, the Office of the Comptroller General of the Union, show that unions and associations added an average of 83 new members to their bases per minute. This is as if, every three seconds, four retirees and pensioners had decided to give up part of their benefits received from the INSS.
