Fire management and prevention will receive 6 million euros in support

The “Floresta Ativa” program will make 6 million euros available for the management and prevention of forest fires this year, with applications opening on June 2, the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF) announced today.
According to a statement from the ICNF, the “Active Forest” program aims to encourage the active management of forest areas, through non-refundable support ranging from 650 euros per hectare, for individual applications, and 800 euros per hectare, in the case of collective applications.
The measure, promoted by ICNF in partnership with the Climate Agency, through the Environmental Fund, has a total of 6 million euros for the year 2025, with 4 million available in this first phase.
Applications can be submitted between June 2 and August 1, 2025 and must be registered in the ICNF Application Management System.
As for collective applications, they will be approved with the aim of promoting larger-scale interventions with greater impact on the territory.
According to the ICNF, the “Active Forest” program will function as an instrument for the valorization, resilience and biodiversity of the national forest, simplifying the processes to support its maintenance.
