Agreement ends 6x1 workday for IT workers in Paraná

Professionals in the technology sector in Paraná have achieved the end of the 6×1 scale (six days of work and one day of rest) with the signing of the new Collective Labor Agreement, valid until 2027. The agreement was signed between the National Federation of Information Technology Workers, Fenati, and the state's employers' sector, last Thursday the 15th.
The union's projections indicate that at least 80 thousand workers from 16 thousand companies in Paraná should benefit by the measure. The agreement establishes that the work week of these professionals can have a maximum of five days. It will be up to the employers to decide whether the workday will be from Monday to Friday or from Tuesday to Saturday.
If the company wants the employee to work on Sundays or more than five days a week, it will not be able to use the 6x1 schedule without first making a specific agreement with the union. Discussions about the end of this work regime have gained traction on social media in recent months , fueled by PECs that aim to replace it with a 4×3 or 5×2 model .
The main bill was presented to the National Congress in February by federal deputy Érika Hilton (PSOL-SP). The text seeks to reduce the weekly working hours of each worker to 36 hours (currently, the limit set out in the Constitution is 44 hours), without changing the maximum daily workload of eight hours and without reducing wages.
The project, however, has not yet moved forward and is facing resistance from Bolsonaro supporters and business representatives. The Speaker of the House, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), said last month that the issue will be discussed, but he reduced expectations. “You can’t keep selling dreams knowing that these dreams will not come true,” he said.
In a speech on Labor Day, President Lula (PT) declared that it was “time for Brazil to take this step, listening to all sectors of society, to allow a balance between professional life and the well-being of workers.” To come into effect, the proposal needs to obtain the support of 308 deputies and 49 senators, in two rounds, in addition to being voted on in committees.
In addition to the end of the 6x1 work shift, IT professionals in Paraná won a 6% salary adjustment, a meal allowance of R$28 per day, an overtime bonus of up to 100% and a childcare allowance. Clear rules for remote work are also provided, with a minimum allowance of R$100, as well as life insurance and increases in profit sharing.
