Sandro Akel and André Passos exhibition at BaFu opens on the 10th

In creative collaboration, photographer André Passos and visual artist Sandro Akel developed the exhibition “Fluxo e Fragmento”, from the concept to the finalization of the works. And, at the invitation of set designer and curator Cláudio Magalhães, the exhibition will occupy BaFu - Galeria Barra Funda Autoral. Its opening will take place on Thursday, the 10th, from 5 pm to 10 pm, and the exhibition will be on display from Wednesday to Sunday until August 10th.

For the exhibition “Fluxo e Fragmento”, André Passos and Sandro Akel came together in an aesthetic experience that has time — and its effects — as the main creative agent. The exhibition is born from the encounter between two perspectives that understand wear and tear not as an end, but as raw material.

André's photographs, originally conceived in other contexts, were invaded by mold over time. Instead of rejecting this organic interference, it was welcomed, understood and, even more so, controlled in processes in which the fungus ceases to be an accident and becomes language. The photographic image becomes a living body: contaminated, altered, transformed.

Sandro Akel, in turn, starts from the layers of the city. His works emerge from the collection of urban posters, torn from the walls where they were pasted, torn and superimposed for months or years. Each piece carries not only graphic and textual traces, but also the density of urban time — multiple, confusing, saturated with voices. In his hands, these fragments become tactile abstractions, visual structures that reveal layers of an invisible daily life.

In “Flux and Fragment”, these two universes meet and intersect.

All the works are the result of a collaborative process, built by four hands: André's photography becomes the starting point for Sandro's interventions, creating a territory of dialogue in which image and matter mutually contaminate each other. Time, once again, is present in everything — be it in the controlled deterioration of the image, or in the urban superimposition of the posters, or in the partnership between the artists themselves, made up of listening, adaptation and reinvention.

Nothing here is static. Everything carries the trace of what was and the possibility of what can still be.
