Hansi Flick has lashed out at Barcelona players, announcing a decisive move.
FC Barcelona kicked off the 2025/26 LaLiga season with a victory. The Spanish champions, without Robert Lewandowski (injured) and Wojciech Szczęsny (unregistered), defeated Mallorca 3-0.
However, despite the victory, Hansi Flick did not hide his dissatisfaction with his players' performance at the post-match press conference, especially when the opponents played with nine men and after Manu Morlanes and Vedat Muriqi were shown red cards.
"It's an important victory, but I didn't like the way we played. After we took a 2-0 lead and Mallorca received two red cards, we played at 50 percent. I need to talk to the players about that," the German said.
"We have to control the game, but we also have to score goals. We can't play at 50-60 percent against nine players," he added.
Barcelona's victory overshadowed by controversyFlick also commented on his team's second goal, which has been causing quite a bit of controversy. Lamine Yamal's shot sent a Mallorca player tumbling to the turf after being hit in the head. However, the referee let play continue, allowing Ferran Torres to capitalize on the opportunity.
"I always tell the players they have to play until the referee stops play. The second goal was the referee's decision. We have to accept it," Flick said.
FC Barcelona will now face Levante in their next round of matches. The match will take place on Saturday, August 23rd at 9:30 PM. Coverage of the match can be found on the Przegląd Sportowy Onet website.
