GKS Górnik Łęczna defeated Śląsk Wrocław in the opening match

After the break, Tomasiak showed why she was the only regular Orlen Ekstraliga player in the recent European Championships. In the 52nd minute, she brilliantly intercepted the ball from her opponents and fired a shot from 35 meters into the top corner of Śląsk's goal.
If anyone thought this would force the visitors to play more boldly, they were sorely mistaken. The only dangerous situation occurred after a mistake by Natalia Piątek. The Górnik goalkeeper mishandled the ball in her own penalty area and had to make a dramatic tackle, which resulted in her losing the ball to her opponent.
Górnik were the better side on the day, with Julia Ostrowska documenting their advantage. The young talent from Łęczna appeared on the pitch in the 87th minute and scored in the 90th. The Polish youth international did manage two shots, but most importantly, they were effective. Aleksandra Dudziak's goal in 10th minute of stoppage time made no difference. Górnik started the season in style and confidently collected all three points. (kk)
