Irreplaceable. Nurses and midwives celebrate – NIL wishes

May 12 is not just another date on the calendar – it is a day when the world pays tribute to those closest to the patient. International Nurses and Midwives Day is celebrated today – on the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing and a woman who showed the world the enormous role care and concern play in the healing process.
Nurses and Midwives celebrate their holidayOn the website of the Supreme Medical Chamber we read:
International Nurses and Midwives Day is celebrated on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the forerunner of modern nursing and founder of the first nursing school. On the occasion of today's holiday, the president of the Supreme Medical Council, on behalf of the professional self-government of doctors and dentists, extends best wishes to all nurses and midwives.
Being a Nurse and Midwife means being close to the patient. In everyday hospital practice, it is the nurses and nurses who are the first to respond to the needs of patients, who are the irreplaceable link between the person in need of help and the doctor. It is hard to imagine medical care in isolation from your work.
Recent times have shown us clearly that openness to help and work to provide it to others means that healthcare workers are increasingly becoming victims of attacks caused by frustration, the cause of which is often the ongoing ailments and poor organization of the functioning of the healthcare system. Therefore, on the occasion of International Nurses and Midwives Day, I wish you a sense of security in your workplace, and above all, the introduction of regulations and reliable solutions into Polish legislation that will provide us all with real security, which we as a medical self-government have been striving for for years.
I wish you and your representatives in talks with decision-makers unwavering determination to develop the best possible standards and conditions for practicing your profession.
