The military will call up 235,000 people. Even women and 60-year-olds are on the lists.

- The 2026 military qualification will start on February 2 and last until April 30.
- It will cover men and women with qualifications useful in the military.
- Failure to appear for qualification may result in a fine or forced appearance.
Military qualifications will begin on February 2, 2026. In addition to men turning 19 , women with qualifications useful in the military are also eligible – primarily those with medical and psychological education.
Announcement and dates of military qualification 2026The Voivode issues an announcement announcing the commencement of military qualifications no later than 14 days prior to their commencement. In 2026, the qualifications will begin on February 2nd and last until April 30th , with the final announcement deadline falling on January 19th. Military qualifications will cover 235,000 individuals.
Qualification is conducted by district and provincial medical boards, mayors, city presidents and heads of military recruitment centers.
Who has to appear for military qualification?According to the draft regulation of the Minister of National Defence , in 2026 the obligation to report will cover:
- men born in 2007,
- men born between 2002 and 2006 who do not have a specific category of fitness for active military service,
- persons recognized in the years 2024-2025 as temporarily incapable of service, if the period of this incapacity expires before the end of the qualifications,
- persons who are over 18 years of age and have volunteered,
- persons with an irregular military service status until the end of the year in which they turn 60 - if they have not been assigned a category.
Pursuant to Article 60, Section 1 of the Act on the Defence of the Homeland, the obligation to report may also apply to women who have qualifications useful for military service , are studying in this field (if they finish it in a given year), are students or graduates of higher education institutions.
Qualifications useful for military service include education or qualifications in:
- medical professions,
- veterinary,
- marine,
- air,
and also in competitions:
- psychologist,
- rehabilitator,
- radiologist,
- laboratory diagnostician,
- information technology,
- navigator
- and a translator.
In 2026, women born between 1999 and 2007 who have the above qualifications or who complete their studies in these professions in the academic year 2025/2026 and have not yet applied for military qualifications may receive a call-up .
Pursuant to the Act on the Defense of the Homeland, university rectors and school principals are obliged to provide the head of the relevant military recruitment center with lists of names of women graduating from studies in fields useful for the army .
Women are subject to compulsory military service under general rules - however, it should be remembered that military qualification does not mean automatic call-up to military service.
As of March 1, 2024, there are 17,334 women serving professionally in the Polish Army. Women serve in all corps and all branches of the armed forces.
Consequences of not showing up for the qualificationMilitary qualification is mandatory; failure to appear may result in a fine and compulsory police appearance . A summons to appear before a military commission must be delivered at least seven days before the scheduled date.
Currently, in Poland, compulsory military service has been suspended since 2008, but not abolished - the provisions contained primarily in the Homeland Defense Act provide for the possibility of its reinstatement, for example in a crisis situation.
