Poland is the EU's showroom for vintage cars
More than 571,000 used passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were imported to Poland from abroad in the first seven months of 2025, the Samar Institute reported on Tuesday. This represents a half-percent increase compared to the previous year. Nearly 515,000 were passenger cars, but the largest increase, nearly 12 percent, was recorded in the import of 56,200 commercial vehicles. It is estimated that by the end of the year, the number of imported second-hand cars will exceed one million.
The age of imported cars now exceeds 12 years, with imported petrol-engined cars being slightly older than diesels. According to the Polish Automotive Industry Association, in the first half of 2025, the share of imported passenger cars over 10 years old was 55.2%, while cars under four years old accounted for less than one-tenth.
