This ruling gives a 95% discount not only on buses

People with significant disabilities can count on discounts on rail and bus travel. Their caregivers are also eligible.
It's worth recalling that, according to the Act on Vocational and Social Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities, there are three degrees of disability.
- considerable,
- moderate,
- light.
A significant degree of disability includes a person whose body functions are impaired:
- unable to take up employment,
- capable of performing employment in a sheltered workshop or in a vocational activation facility, requiring permanent or long-term care or assistance from another person necessary to perform social roles due to a significantly limited ability to live independently.
As explained by Niepelnosprawni.pl, people with disabilities are entitled to discounts and privileges when traveling by rail. People with significant disabilities are entitled to:
- 37% discount on fast, express, IC and EC trains,
- 49% discount on travel on PKP trains – only in the 2nd class of passenger trains,
- 95% discount on travel on PKP trains for a guardian accompanying the journey (based on one of the ward's documents and single tickets), provided that the guardian must be an adult (over 18 years old) and in the case of a blind person – their guide must be over 13 years old.
People who are blind but not severely disabled have the right to:
- 37% discount on 2nd class travel on passenger, express and fast trains (based on one of the documents confirming disability),
- up to 95% discount on travel on PKP trains for your guide accompanying you on the journey (a blind or partially sighted person), who must be at least 13 years old.
However, disabled children and young people attending school, no longer than until they reach the age of 24, and students up to the age of 26, their parents or guardians have the right to:
- 78% discount on travel by passenger and express trains, EC, IC PKP (only in 2nd class) on the route from the place of residence or place of stay to: school, kindergarten, rehabilitation center, social welfare home, health care facility, psychological and pedagogical counseling center, care and educational facility, support center, and back, based on a school ID,
- A 78% discount on train travel for one parent or guardian of children and young people with disabilities – based on single-use tickets. This entitlement only covers travel from their place of residence or place of stay to a preschool, school, university, care and educational facility, educational and care facility, special education center, special care center, center enabling children and young people to fulfill their compulsory schooling and education obligations, rehabilitation and educational center, or social welfare home.
The website also emphasizes that discounts and privileges are also available on long-distance buses. People with significant disabilities are entitled to:
- 37% discount on PKS express and fast buses, based on single tickets,
- 49% discount on PKS bus travel in regular public transport, based on single-fare tickets,
- 51% discount on PKS buses in accelerated and express transport for blind people unable to live independently,
- 93% discount on PKS buses in regular public transport for blind people unable to live independently,
- 95% discount on PKS bus travel for a guardian accompanying the traveler (based on one of the ward's documents and single tickets), provided that the guardian must be of legal age (over 18 years old), and in the case of a blind person, their guide must be over 13 years old.
Blind people who are not severely disabled also have the right to:
- 37% discount on PKS bus travel (based on one of the documents confirming disability),
- up to 95% discount on PKS bus travel for your guide accompanying you on the journey (a blind or partially sighted person), who must be at least 13 years old.
Children and young people with disabilities attending school until they reach the age of 24, students up to the age of 26, their parents or guardians have the right to:
- 78% discount on travel on all types of PKS buses from the place of residence or place of stay to: school, kindergarten, rehabilitation center, social welfare home, health care facility, psychological and pedagogical counseling center, care and educational facility, support center, and back, based on a school ID,
- A 78% discount on public bus travel for one parent or guardian of children and young people with disabilities – based on single-use tickets. This entitlement only covers travel from their place of residence or place of stay to a preschool, school, university, care and educational facility, educational and care facility, special education center, special care center, center enabling children and young people to fulfill their compulsory schooling and education obligations, rehabilitation and care center, or social welfare home.
