They're planning a new support program for seniors. Up to 2,150 PLN per month.

Information about a new benefit for people over 75 is appearing in the public sphere. To meet the needs of seniors, the government plans to launch a so-called senior voucher. This program will finance care services provided in the senior's place of residence.

The estimated value of the senior voucher is up to PLN 2,150 per month . The program is intended to support older adults who experience difficulties in everyday functioning by enabling them to access care services in their place of residence.

The initiative is also intended to relieve the burden on families who are not always able to provide their loved ones with an adequate level of care due to work obligations or other constraints.

The introduction of the senior voucher is planned for 2026 , but its launch will depend, among other things, on the readiness of local governments to implement the program.

The Senior Voucher will be available to individuals over 75 years of age who have difficulty performing basic life activities. The program will be available to seniors who do not receive other forms of support in this area. Another important requirement is the lack of constant care from family or loved ones who, due to their work, cannot assist the senior on a daily basis.

An application for the benefit will be able to be submitted by a close relative of the senior, such as a child or grandchild, but only if their income does not exceed certain thresholds. For a single-person household, the limit will be twice the minimum gross wage, and for a multi-person household, three times the minimum wage.

The seniors' voucher is intended to finance a wide range of care services. The benefit is to be used for services provided by municipalities or non-governmental organizations and will include:

• assistance with everyday activities (e.g. preparing meals, cleaning or shopping)
• support with personal hygiene and care
• assistance during medical visits and access to health services
• action to counteract social isolation, including enabling contacts with the environment

The voucher value will range from a minimum of PLN 516 (equivalent to 12 hours of support per month) to a maximum of PLN 2,150, equivalent to 50 hours of care services per month. An hour of care is valued at approximately PLN 43.

The decision to grant a senior voucher will be made by the municipality responsible for the senior's place of residence. Needs will be assessed based on a special point scale that takes into account the extent of the difficulties in the elderly person's daily functioning.

Depending on the number of points, the senior will receive the number of support hours they are entitled to under the voucher:

• 11-20 points: up to 12 hours of assistance per month, minimum benefit of PLN 516
• 21-35 points: 13 to 24 hours
• 36-50 points: 25 to 36 hours
• 51-60 points: from 37 to 50 hours, corresponding to a maximum benefit of PLN 2,150

The benefit will be provided for 12 months . After this time, a reassessment of needs and a decision on continued funding will be required.
