Cooperation between firefighters from KGHM and nearby units

The cooperation of JRGH with the Volunteer Fire Department units from the Głogów district covers a number of activities.
Depending on the forces and resources available at a given time , KGHM rescue services will cooperate, for example, when eliminating the effects of disasters, earth collapses and other local threats requiring the use of specialized equipment and rescue techniques.
– JRGH has already signed a similar agreement with the State Fire Service units in Głogów, Polkowice, Lubin and Legnica – says Marcin Górski, general director of the KGHM Mine and Metallurgical Rescue Unit.
- Today we are taking the next step and signing an agreement with all Volunteer Fire Department units in the Głogów district - adds Górski.
The agreement covers the organisation of joint exercises, demonstrations and manoeuvres in the field of rescue and infrastructure protection in the Głogów district and KGHM Polska Miedź SA. Additionally, the JRGH and OSP rescue services will exchange experiences in assessing the usefulness of rescue equipment.
The Mine and Metallurgy Rescue Unit is part of KGHM . Three departments operating at the Głogów Copper Smelter, the Lubin Mine, and the Legnica Copper Smelter form the structure of the KGHM fire brigade complex.
This year , teams participated in firefighting and emergency response operations , as well as in training, preventive inspections, and preventative measures conducted at KGHM facilities. Due to the specific nature of the technological process, over 30,000 gas concentration measurements were also taken at the smelters.
In February of this year, KGHM opened a modern Medical-Altitude Training Center that meets the highest global standards in rescue training. This provided the JRGH team with a space to develop and strengthen their competencies.
