Sikorski as Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Finance as part of a new super-ministry. What was decided at the meeting of the Coalition leaders on October 15?

On Friday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk met with the leaders of the coalition parties - Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz (PSL), Szymon Hołownia (Polska 2050) and Włodzimierz Czarzasty (Nowa Lewica) - on the reconstruction of the government. Hołownia assessed that it was a very good, four-hour meeting.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that in mid-July he will propose the form of the government after the reconstruction. On Friday he met with the leaders of the coalition groups and presented them with proposals regarding the reconstruction.
Government spokesman Adam Szłapka confirmed on Friday that Tusk went to the meeting with coalition partners with a ready proposal for the form of the government. He added that the aim of the reconstruction is to manage the state more efficiently. "There are elements of state management that were too dispersed, they will have to be better coordinated and focused," Szłapka said.
Sejm Speaker Szymon Hołownia wrote on Platform X that the meeting with the coalition leaders was very good and lasted four hours.
Onet has established that the head of government has proposed to the coalition partners a 20 percent reduction in ministers and deputy ministers. In addition, Tusk is said to have proposed the creation of two large ministries, consisting of those that currently focus on economic and energy issues.
In turn, Telewizja Republika reported that at the meeting , PSL and Polska 2050 pushed for Tusk to be replaced as prime minister by current Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski.
There is talk behind the scenes about several concepts of combining ministries , including science and digitalization, education and sports, as well as the creation of a super-ministry of economics . At a minimum, it will be a combined Ministry of Development and Technology with the Ministry of Industry. In the second version, in addition to these two ministries , the super-ministry would also include the Ministry of Finance . There is also the concept of including some or all of the competences of the Ministry of State Assets in the super-ministry, although - according to another scenario - the super-ministry would only be formed by MRiT and MAP.
Another option is to eliminate plenipotentiaries in the rank of ministers and incorporate them as secretaries or undersecretaries of state in ministries or leave them in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense and President of PSL Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz assured on Wednesday that the reconstruction is less about personnel and more about structure and efficiency - above all, combining sectors in one place. He used the example of the energy sector. As he said, one ministry deals with energy companies, and the management of the critical infrastructure related to it - another. "I would accumulate energy in one, so that it is used effectively," he said. He added that such a situation applies to many other areas.
Poland 2050 leader Szymon Hołownia assured on Wednesday that he does not intend to join the government, although he is able to change his mind in a situation in which all four coalition leaders are in the government. "If there was such a proposal, of course I would not shirk it," he said. He had previously ruled out the possibility of taking over the ministry.
Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, co-chair of the New Left, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, said on Tuesday that during the coalition meeting, each leader is to present the vision and proposals of their group. (PAP)
