Construction of a railway junction begins. For the Police Sea Port

The agreement was signed on Monday by representatives of the Police Sea Ports Authority and the companies PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA and Torpol SA
On Monday (June 30), a contract was ceremonially signed for the construction of a railway junction with the necessary technical infrastructure as part of the construction of railway line no. 437 to the Police Sea Port. This investment is to increase the port's accessibility from both land and sea, as well as increase transshipment efficiency.
The agreement was signed on Monday by representatives of the Police Seaports Authority and the companies PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA and Torpol SA. This investment in the Police port is being carried out jointly with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe. In the case of ZMPP, the funds for the investment come from EU funds and its own contribution. The part of the investment on the part of PKP PLK will be financed from state budget funds.
This agreement is one of the elements of the important and large Police Logistics Hub project, which includes a number of initiatives related to the expansion of the Police Sea Port and the creation of a modern logistics base for the region and industry.
- This is not only the expansion of the port - said the president of the board of Grupa Azoty Police Andrzej Dawidowski. - This is actually an increase in the potential of the region, an increase in the potential of the Police district, an increase in the potential of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in terms of logistics infrastructure, business development opportunities, but also an increase in the number of business partners, manufacturing companies, logistics companies that will find their place in Police. Police Logistics Hub is also a key element in rebuilding the strength of the entire Grupa Azoty. It is one of the elements of the Azoty Biznes project, which supports key logistics processes in the entire Group.
- Today is the result of many months of intensive work: from preparing the concept through developing technical and environmental documentation, to effective financing - said (already about the agreement regarding the construction of the railway junction) the president of the Police Sea Port, Dariusz Budzik. - I am all the more glad that this project was co-financed from European Union funds.
This subsidy amounts to over 33 million euros. The investment completion date is 30 June 2028. The contractor was Torpol from Poznań - selected in a tender. It offered the lowest price of PLN 201.59 million gross.
The project involves the construction of a railway junction and technical infrastructure, including the construction of approximately 6 km of tracks and 2.82 km of internal roads, along with a signal box building and a rail traffic control system. The investment includes the construction of groups of departure, arrival and departure, cargo, partially electrified tracks, and roads parallel to the tracks. Work has also been planned on the modernization of the rainwater pumping station and the fire protection network to protect the tracks against flooding and for fire protection.
Currently, rail freight transport is only available to the Police Chemia station, which serves Grupa Azoty Police. Thanks to the planned expansion of infrastructure, direct rail freight transport to the port will be possible for the first time.
- It is obvious for PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe that an important element of the lifeblood of each port is access to rail infrastructure - said Marcin Mochocki, member of the board, director of investment implementation at PKP PLK SA. - Without efficient access to rail infrastructure, not only at the level of the siding to the port, but also all export lines into the country, ports cannot develop.
The investment is not only to strengthen the competitiveness of the port, but also to open it to new directions. In addition to the rail connection, there are also plans to expand the heavy quay, with expected completion in March 2029.
The meeting also discussed, among other things, plans to secure energy supply in cooperation with Enea for the developing industrial area.
The Monday event organized at Grupa Azoty Police was attended by representatives of the government, local governments and representatives of various industries cooperating on initiatives related to the expansion of the Police Sea Port.©℗
