Brazil is gearing up for COP30, and Katowice for PRECOP. The largest such conference in this part of Europe is ahead of us.
- Preparations are underway for the fourth edition of PRECOP in Katowice, an event preceding the COP30 climate summit in Brazil.
- The agenda will include the most important topics for climate, energy, green transformation and sustainable development.
- A White Paper will also be presented, which will be a recommendation to the government.
- PRECOP, organized by UN GCNP and the PTWP Group, will take place on October 1-2, 2025 at the International Congress Center in Katowice.
Valter Correia, Brazil's special secretary for the summit known as COP30, unveiled a plan to prioritize the needs of developing and island nations, whose representatives expressed outrage at a conference in Bonn, Germany , that inflated hotel prices in Belém could exclude them from attending COP30.
"We guarantee that everyone will be able to come at affordable prices. We cannot exclude small countries, countries most affected by climate change; that would be absolutely unthinkable, " Correira said.
Although UN officials informed the Brazilian side that 20,000 rooms would be needed to house the delegation, Correira assured that up to 30,000 units would be available. He added, however, that while his office is combating price gouging, it will not be able to offer everyone rooms at lower prices .
PRECOP will take place on October 1-2, 2025 in KatowiceKatowice does not have similar problems, as its experience in organizing national and international events at the highest level is extremely extensive.
One of the next will be PRECOP, the largest climate conference in this part of Europe , preceding and preparing participants for the COP30 climate summit.
This year's fourth edition of the event will take place on October 1-2 at the International Congress Centre in Katowice.
This two-day event, organized by the PTWP Group - the organizer of, among others, the European Economic Congress - and the UN Global Compact Network Poland, will be a forum for international discussion about climate and the future of the planet.
The most important topics on this year's agenda include:
- climate policy and economic competitiveness;
- new mobility;
- agriculture and climate;
- circular economy;
- sustainable construction;
- climate education;
- just transition;
- green technologies and innovations;
- artificial intelligence and sustainable development;
- planetary crises and health.
The conference will also feature the presentation of the White Paper, a publication presenting the Polish perspective on climate issues ahead of the event in Brazil. This document has accompanied the Polish UN GCNP delegation to climate summits annually – COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, COP28 in Dubai, and COP29 in Baku.
The Business Council meeting dedicated to recommendations for the government at COP30, which will be held this year in Brazil, took place in April during the European Economic Congress 2025 .
We are preparing the ground for dialogue between business and government. We hope this will foster transparency, inclusiveness, and the correct interpretation of the law," Kamil Wyszkowski, Country Representative and Executive Director of the UN GCNP, commented on the idea behind the White Paper.
