A new military alliance has been formed. They have nuclear weapons.

- Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have signed a mutual defense agreement that stipulates that any aggression against one country will be treated as aggression against both.
- The agreement comes amid growing concerns among Gulf states about the credibility of the US as a security guarantor and recent tensions in the region.
- The Saudi official stressed that the agreement covers all military measures and that relations with nuclear-armed India remain strong and will be further developed.
"The Saudi-Pakistani agreement is the culmination of many years of talks. It is not a response to the actions of specific countries or to specific events, but rather the institutionalization of long-standing and deep cooperation between our countries ," a senior Saudi official told Reuters when asked about the timing of the pact's signing.
A statement from the Pakistani Prime Minister's office said the agreement aims to develop defence cooperation between the countries and strengthen joint deterrence against any aggression.

According to the agency, Gulf states are increasingly concerned about the credibility of the United States as their current security guarantor. Last week's Israeli attack on Qatar further heightened these concerns.
The agreement with Saudi Arabia was reached several months after Pakistan fought a brief armed conflict with India in May.
Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal wrote on social media that India is aware of the incident and will analyse its implications for New Delhi's security and regional stability.
A senior Saudi official, who spoke to the media anonymously, acknowledged the need to maintain a balance in relations with India, which also possesses nuclear weapons. "Our relationship with India is stronger than ever. We will continue to develop it and strive to contribute to peace in the region in every way possible," he emphasized.
Asked whether Pakistan would be obligated to provide Saudi Arabia with a nuclear umbrella under the pact, the official said it was a comprehensive defense agreement that included all military means.
