Francis Ford Coppola was hospitalized. What happened?

The legendary director is currently in Italy, where a special screening of his new film, "Megalopolis," recently took place. Local media reported that Francis Ford Coppola was hospitalized Tuesday morning with a "mild cardiac arrhythmia." However, a representative for the "Godfather" director assured fans that the five-time Oscar winner is feeling well and resting after a planned procedure.
The latest reports from the Italian media have caused quite a stir among fans of Francis Ford Coppola . The director of such iconic films as "Apocalypse Now," "Dracula," and "The Godfather" was admitted to the Policlinico Tor Vergata hospital in Rome on August 5th . The legendary filmmaker, who was awaiting cardiac surgery, reportedly experienced a "slight cardiac arrhythmia," which prompted doctors to admit him for observation.
These reports turned out to be only partially true. A representative of the 86-year-old director, quoted by The Guardian, denied rumors that he had suffered from a heart rhythm disorder, calling the media reports "false."
"Mr. Coppola underwent a planned procedure with a respected cardiologist who has been his physician for over 30 years. There was no medical emergency. He drove to the hospital. He is currently resting after the procedure. Everything is fine," the filmmaker's spokesperson reassured fans.
Coppola himself later weighed in on the matter. In an Instagram post, the five-time Oscar winner assured that his health was in no danger.
"Da Dada (as my children call me) is doing well. While in Rome, I took the opportunity to renew a procedure I performed 30 years ago to treat atrial fibrillation. And I did it with the help of its inventor, the wonderful Italian physician Dr. Andrea Natale! I'm feeling good!" the filmmaker wrote on his website.
Coppola traveled to Italy in late July to attend the Magna Graecia Film Festival in Catanzaro, Calabria. The renowned director presented a special screening of his latest film, "Megalopolis," which premiered in theaters last year. The director also spent time in sunny Italy scouting locations for his next film, which is scheduled to begin shooting this fall.
